2011 Bluegrass T20 Tournament Updates
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Great end to a perfect tournament! Cinci team with the Bluegrass 2011 trophy.
10/16: Final vs Kentucky CC - This time Cinci won the toss and chose to bat with batting confidence carried over from the semis. Thiag and Vishnu in particular started off very well, and gave signs of the repeat carnage of last years Bluegrass final, but Vishnu departed after scoring a quick 32. With decent partnerships from other batsmen, and some good hitting by Ahsan in the late overs, Cinci finished their innings at 167. During Kentucky CC's chase, Cinci dropped extremely easy catches again to Kentucky's top batsmen namely Nitin Shere and Hammad Malik. They continued batting well until the partnership was broken when Nitin got out by a very good catch by Thiag in the deep covers. Mathew deceived Malik with a slow ball to get him stumped by Parth. After these wickets, Cinci was confident about the end result. Man of the Match Ahsan bowled with great control in the end to restrict Kentucky 16 runs short. Cincy successfully defended the BGT20 trophy, making it 9-0 for the 2011 tournament. Good teamwork from everyone and positive leadership from Pirabu through the league phase, and Ravneet who stepped in for Pirabu (ruled out due to injury) in the SF and Final. Scorecard
10/16: Semi-final vs West Chester CC - Cincy fielded first against an underdog WCC team who were looking for an upset victory. But Ali again proved lethal as the top batsmen were ripped apart by his sheer pace. WCC found themselves 4 down for less than 50 and it looked like their innings would fold under 10 overs but their remaining batsment showed some character and took advantage of some easy dropped catches. Syed managed to slog around and was the highest scorer with around 40 runs and WCC ended up at 142 in 20 overs.Cinci started well chasing the target but then lost 3 wkts in relatively quick time. Sandeep K and Nabil batted extremely well with great running between the wickets. Both of them took up the responsibility and took Cinci into the finals remaining unbeaten. Man of the match Sandeep remained not out 46 and Nabil at 36. Ahsan and Thiag took 2 wickets, Sunil, Mathew, and Ravneet 1 wkt each. In the end Cincy won by 7 wickets. Scorecard Detailed-Scorecard
